Steve Alford, UCLA Bruins

Steve Alford has done a fabulous job with year’s squad that is relatively young, featuring two freshmen and one sophomore. UCLA (31-3) posted its most wins (15) in Pac-12 play and overall under Alford’s four-year reign this year.

Alford is an offensive coach who likes to push the pace. He also believes in sharing the ball, taking good shots, and shooting a bunch of threes. The Bruins have done all three very well this year.

UCLA ranks first in the nation in several categories including offensive efficiency, scoring offense, and shooting percentage. The Bruins, who rank No. 1 in made field goals, are third in three-point field goal percentage and 13th in made three-pointers.

Alford is 96-44 in his four years in Hollywood. He has led the Bruins to the Sweet 16 for the third time during his tenure. Overall, Alford has a 559-278 record which includes stops at New Mexico, Iowa, and Southwest Missouri State.
