4. Luke Maye

What can you say about Luke Maye? Maye has been Carolina’s dark horse playmaker this tournament and is a huge reason for the Tar Heels’ tournament success.

Maye went from averaging 5.5 points and 4.1 rebounds per game this season to exploding onto the national scene with his NCAA Tournament performance. Just how good has Maye been? He has scored in double figures in three of four games, averaging 12.5 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 55.8 percent from the floor and 63.4 percent from three-point range.

In his last two games, against Butler and Kentucky, Maye averaged 16.5 ppg, 7.5 rpg, and shot 63.4% from the field and beyond the arc. All of this has earned him the Most Valuable Player title of the loaded South Region.

If Maye continues to add another element to Carolina’s team, they will continue to be that much harder to beat.
