MVC Basketball: Five teams the Valley should add

4. Belmont

The Bruins have developed into a steady program with 20+ wins each year since 2010-11. Belmont has spent five years in the Ohio Valley Conference and has finished in first in their division every season.

They would add a new major market to the MVC and would be competitive immediately. The Bruins have more national recognition than many smaller programs in the MVC and would help stabilize the conference.

They’ve been a popular name thrown around for joining the league and have been near the top of the Ohio Valley for the last five years. They would be able to remain at the FCS level for football and help the MVC expand if that is what the league intends to do.
