Kentucky Basketball: 5 best games of Wildcats’ 2016-17 season
By Taylor Sturm
The Kentucky Wildcats had a fantastic 2016-17 college basketball season, but which five games were the best for John Calipari and Co.?
Despite losing to the North Carolina Tar Heels in a spectacular fashion during the 2017 NCAA Tournament, the Kentucky Wildcats had yet another fantastic season.
Finishing the year 32-6 and bowing out in the Elite Eight, Kentucky looked like one of the best teams in the country all season long. The Wildcats won 11 straight games to end the regular season, including running the table in the SEC Tournament and leaving Nashville with yet another trophy.
That makes it three straight years in which Kentucky has won the SEC regular season title and the SEC tournament. At some point, we have to realize that what John Calipari is doing in Lexington is worthy of being called a dynasty.
However, which games from the Wildcats’ 2016-17 season were the best?
Kentucky always plays great teams in nonconference play, so it is extremely difficult to pick just five games for the Wildcats. Most teams make it easy, as they play one or two non-conference teams and then it’s simple to narrow things down in conference and postseason play.
While this makes it slightly more difficult for me to choose (and gives me another reason to complain), it is just a testament to the good job the Wildcats do when it comes to scheduling great opponents all season long.
These five games stood out as the best for John Calipari and Co. in 2016-17.
