Rising junior A.J. Reeves has garnered a lot of attention on the recruiting trail since the end of the high school campaign.

2018 prospect A.J. Reeves took an unofficial visit to Villanova today, per Adam Finkelstein of ESPN. The 6-4 guard is a four-star prospect from Chestnut Hill, Mass. He currently plays for the Brimmer and May School.

Reeves is long and athletic, though, he is not an elite athlete. He is at his best in the open court. Reeves is best suited to play the off guard position. However, he does have the ability to play the point due to his improvement in ball-handling and decision-making.

Here is a scouting report from ESPN Insider:

"“Reeves is a late blooming big guard whose frame has stretched another three inches since he arrived in the high school level and is now starting to develop the strong body to compliment his size advantage in the backcourt…He’s a solid ball-handler and passer, who plays primarily with the ball in his hands in high school. He owns a good looking pull-up game with the size and compact release to score over smaller guards, has shown flashes of taking defenders down to the block and the mechanics to become a good three-point shooter. [However], he’s just learning to manufacture his own offense in the half-court and isn’t great laterally on the defensive end.”"

Reeves has drawn interest from several power conference programs. He currently has 13 scholarship offers overall with UConn, Syracuse, Louisville, Providence, Villanova and VCU among the teams extending Reeves an opportunity.

Providence appears to be really interested in Reeves having met with him on and off campus several times, including once this past week. However, 247 Sports projects that he will ultimately end up at UConn. 247 Sports also mentions Louisville as having significant interest in him.

Louisville is the only one of the three teams to receive commitments from 2018 prospects. Shooting guard Anfernee Simmons and point guard Courtney Ramsey are the two players in next year’s class that have committed to the Cardinals. Both of the players are four-star prospects.
