The TCU Horned Frogs get a major boost for next season, as former VCU Rams’ forward Ahmed Hamdy has committed to the team and is immediately eligible.

Fresh off of winning the NIT, the TCU Horned Frogs continue to add pieces for the 2017-18 season, as Jon Rothstein reported via Twitter that former VCU Rams’ forward Ahmed Hamdy has committed to Jamie Dixon’s team.

Hamdy averaged just over five points in 12 minutes per game throughout his time at VCU, but starred at the JUCO level, averaging 16.2 points per game and 10.7 rebounds per game at Lee College in Texas.

While not a huge, flashy name to be added to the roster, TCU returns many of their top players from last season which likely means Hamdy will not start. The players who are not returning, however, tend to be bench players, meaning that the Horned Frogs are in desperate need of veteran bench depth. Hamdy immediately comes in with playing experience on a really good team in VCU and in a solid mid-major conference in the A-10. Do not be surprised if Hamdy’s addition is what takes this team from an expected 2018 NCAA Tournament team to a 2018 NCAA Tournament lock.

One of the most underrated teams in the country from the 2016-17 season, the Horned Frogs should be underrated once again in 2017-18 – but even better. Dixon has done an amazing job with this team, and we should expect them to make the 2017 NCAA Tournament with relative ease.
