By Michael Foy
The Tar Heels experienced a remarkable season that ended with a national championship. Here is a look at the five best games of their incredible season.
North Carolina had an incredible 2016-2017 season that capped off with redemption in Phoenix, as the Tar Heels won the National Championship. The season is officially over, and now it is time to reflect on all of the feel-good moments and games.
There were so many highlights and games that you could point to as being the best moments of the year for the Tar Heels. This is obvious by the fact that they participated in the three highest rated college basketball games of the season.
When a team plays in so many great games over the course of a year it is difficult to narrow down the list to just five, but someone had to do it.
To clarify, before we get into the list, only games that resulted in wins made the cut. Round 1 of the Kentucky vs. Carolina matchup where the Heels fell 103-100 would easily make this list for top games that Carolina played in this season. However, they lost, so that did not make the cut. There are only positive vibes here.
Obviously, the national title game makes the list, but does it take the top spot? It is easily the most memorable moment, but was it the best game? Was there an NCAA Tournament game that stands out over the national title? What about Carolina’s games outside of the NCAA Tournament? Could one of these dethrone the top spot?
It was difficult but here is a list of the five best games of the North Carolina Tar Heels’ 2016-2017 season.
