John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats received a huge commitment from five-star recruit Kevin Knox on Saturday afternoon.

After a long and drawn out commitment process, five-star recruit Kevin Knox has announced that he will play for the Kentucky Wildcats next season.

Knox, who many expected to select the Duke Blue Devils prior to the announcement, is the No. 10 recruit and No. 2 small forward in the country, according to 247Sports. The 6’9, 205-pound player out of Tampa Catholic in Florida is going to do great things at the next level — and has the potential to be amazing in the NBA as well.

The Wildcats lose several key pieces from the 2016-17 season heading into 2017-18 but were still expected to be the best team in the SEC and one of the better teams in the country. Now, with the addition of Knox, John Calipari’s squad will likely be the favorite to win it all.

In an exclusive by RMF magazine, Knox delves a little deeper into his reasoning and a number of teams and people that he is thankful for throughout his decision-making process. You can read that here.

The number of Kentucky players who have had success at the next level and Calipari’s coaching ability when it comes to NBA players likely played a key role in this decision. Any team that plays Kentucky next season should beware because a great team just got even better.
