By Michael Foy
Will Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan stay in the NBA draft? Where would he fit in best in the NBA?
Caleb Swanigan has once again declared for the NBA Draft but has yet to hire an agent, giving him the option of returning to school if he chooses to before the May 24th deadline.
The Big Ten Player of the Year was a force for the Boilermakers this past season, leading the NCAA with 28 double-doubles, averaging 18.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.
Despite these gaudy numbers, Swanigan is projected to be a low first/second round draft pick. He has the NBA combine to try and improve his stock, but many teams are iffy on how his game will translate to the NBA.
Caleb Swanigan is used to proving people wrong, and he may just do it again in the NBA. His work ethic is that of legends and that sole reason is why teams should take a harder look at the Purdue big man. He possesses a lot of skill that many NBA teams need, but his work ethic is something that can’t be measured but should be a major factor when evaluating Swanigan.
Swanigan is used to turning doubters into believers and outworking his competition, which are traits that could make him a long-term NBA player.
There are a slew of teams that could desperately use the skills that Swanigan brings to the table. Whichever team is lucky enough to draft him will get a special player. Here is a look at the top five landing spots for Purdue’s Caleb Swanigan.
