Lon Kruger has landed his first Junior commitment in four-star shooting guard Jamal Bieniemy.

2018 four-star shooting guard Jamal Bieniemy has committed to Oklahoma over Creighton, LSU, Michigan, and others he announced on Sunday. The commitment came while Bieniemy was in Norman on a visit and just three weeks after Lon Kruger and his staff offered.

“Going into this weekend coach Kruger and the staff made me a priority,” Bieniemy told Busting Brackets. He mentioned that his recent visit to Oklahoma showed him “the culture at OU could develop me to become the best person and player I can be.”

According to 247Sports, the Texas native is the No. 93 junior in the nation and a four-star prospect.

Bieniemy stated that he’s best at “creating shots for either my teammates or myself.” He added, “on the defensive end I play the passing lanes well and rebound.” His versatility is quite remarkable as well, as he has the tools to play point guard, shooting guard, or even the wing with his 6’5″ frame.

Though struggling tremendously this season, primarily due to the departure of lottery pick Buddy Hield, the future looks very bright for the Sooners. Bieniemy noted that though Oklahoma was inexperienced last season, “the expectation in Norman is to most definitely win” once he steps on campus.

Next: Historic recruiting class being brought into Lexington

While Bieniemy is the lone junior pledge to Oklahoma, the commitment is convincing enough to give the Sooners the No. 15 2018 recruiting class in the nation. If Oklahoma improves considerably this season with the addition of five-star point guard Trae Young, the Sooners look to be back in national relevance in the foreseeable future.
