2018 three-star point guard Sharone Wright Jr has committed to Wake Forest over Georgia, South Carolina, and others, he announced Friday.

According to 247Sports, Wright is the No. 206 prospect in the 2018 class. He ranks as the No. 4 Junior in the state of South Carolina.

Wright told Busting Brackets he ultimately decided on Wake Forest because he has a very strong relationship with Danny Manning. He added that Wake was a great fit and felt like the right choice.

On the court, Wright noted that his ability to get his teammates involved and passing ability are perhaps his biggest strengths. As a 6’5″ point guard, Wright stated that his rebounding and ability to attack the rim are pros to his game as well. In college, however, he hopes to further work on his strength and ball-handling.

Sharone Wright Sr., his father, was a former Clemson standout. Wright Sr. went on to be selected No. 6 in the 1994 NBA Draft. Though he has family ties to Clemson, Wright Jr. said his father “left [the decision] up to me.” He added that he felt “no influence” from his father or his family to decide on a certain school.

Wright Jr. is the lone junior pledge to Wake Forest at the moment. However, the Demon Deacons have the No. 41 2017 class, led by four-star shooting guard Chaundee Brown. With an extremely young group that was able to earn an NCAA Tournament appearance last season, the future looks very bright in Winston-Salem.
