2017 NBA Draft: Which players should have stayed in school?
Tyler Dorsey, Oregon Ducks
Tyler Dorsey really blossomed during the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Dorsey closed his sophomore campaign with eight straight 20-point games, including five such games in the NCAA Tournament games. Overall, he averaged 23.5 points and 4.4 assists while shooting 60.6% from beyond the arc during the Tournament.
Despite that stretch, Dorsey’s numbers are not terribly different than his freshman season. As the 6’5″ point guard still had bouts of inconsistency. He failed to score in double figures 13 times.
Dorsey is a fantastic shooter and good at penetrating. He is already 21-years old and needs to improve his decision-making. Dorsey will likely be a second round draft choice as a result of his shooting ability and athleticism.
If Dorsey had decided to return to Oregon for his junior season, he would have likely been able to guarantee himself a second round selection, perhaps working his way up into the early second round if he became a more consistent scorer as well as a better distributor.
