Butler Basketball: Five best games of Bulldogs’ 2016-17 season
This past season was an incredibly fun one for Butler basketball with a Sweet 16 berth and some outstanding wins. Which were the five best games?
After a regular season that ended with a 23-7 record, the Butler Bulldogs were awarded a four seed in the NCAA Tournament. Although the team suffered a few surprising losses that hurt their overall ranking, their massive collection of top wins made them one of the most fun teams in college basketball. No matter who they were playing, it always seemed like they had a chance to win, and a lot of times they did.
That was the case, of course, up until they fell victim to the eventual National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels in the Sweet 16. The season brought to the forefront one of the most talented freshman in the country in Kamar Baldwin and said goodbye to several outstanding seniors.
Andrew Chrabascz, Tyler Lewis, Kethan Savage, Avery Woodson, Trey Pettus, and Steven Bennett will surely be missed on the court at Hinkle Fieldhouse and all had their great moments in a Bulldogs uniform. They left after one of the most successful seasons that Butler has seen.
Although not quite the story that their two National Championship runs were, this Sweet 16 season was certainly worthy of acknowledgement. With the year over, however, let’s take a look back at the five games that made this season as special as it was for Butler fans.
