Coppin State Basketball: JUCO recruit Adam Traore commits to Eagles
By Taylor Sturm
The Coppin State Eagles may have seen their 2018 NCAA Tournament chances skyrocket, as talented JUCO transfer Adam Traore has committed to the school.
Beginning the season with 12 losses, the Coppin State Eagles finished the 2016-17 campaign with a pitiful 8-24 overall record with a 7-9 record in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Obviously missing out on postseason play, the school located in Baltimore, Maryland, received a bit of good news, as JUCO prospect Adam Traore committed to the school.
At the JUCO level, Traore averaged 17 points and 12.1 rebounds per game over 30 minutes per game for Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Not rated on any major recruiting site, VerbalCommits.com has Traore rated as a two-star prospect.
A 6’6 power forward, here is some of what he did prior to going JUCO in 2014:
Traore is an underrated forward who played exceptionally well at the JUCO level. The Eagles are getting a steal in a player who could definitely be a key piece of this team for the next few years, especially on the offensive end.

Remember, the MEAC is a one-bid NCAA Tournament conference, so all that matters is winning the conference tournament at the end of the season. Does Traore’s addition make that possible? Who knows, but it would be nice to see another HBCU make it to the Big Dance next season – just like North Carolina A&T did last season.
