Von Julien, a 6’1 guard from the Tulane Green Wave, has announced his decision to transfer to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions.

Only playing 17 games in the 2016-17 season, Julien averaged 2.5 points per game, a rebound per game, and 1.3 assists per game over 12 minutes per game. In the 2015-16 season, he played 19 minutes per game with slightly better stats across the board, as would be expected with extra minutes.

His transfer was confirmed by Jon Rothstein via Twitter.

From Reserve,

Louisiana, it makes sense that Julien would transfer from the Green Wave to another Louisiana school. While the Southland Conference is a step down from the American Athletic Conference, Julien is far more likely to get playing time with the Lions.

It should also be noted that Tulane, in my opinion, likely has less of a chance at making the NCAA Tournament over the next few seasons than SE Louisiana due to the addition of Wichita State into the AAC. Tulane is clearly the more talented team, but all the Lions have to do is pull off a few upsets over relatively mediocre Southland teams to run the conference tournament and make it to the Big Dance.

Tulane always seems to have players transfer out, probably due to the plethora of talent in that area of the country. Hopefully, both Tulane and SE Louisiana benefit from this move, but we’ll have to wait to find out.
