Florida Basketball: Who will the Gators play in the PK80 Tournament?
By Taylor Sturm
The Phil Knight Invitational will tip-off in late November, but which team will the Florida Gators face off with in the PK80 Tournament?
Last season, the Florida Gators went 27-9 overall with a 14-4 record in the SEC, finishing with a No. 4 seed in the NCAA Tournament and a No. 2 seed in the SEC Tournament. After losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores in their opening SEC Tournament game, the Gators would make it to the Elite Eight where they would fall to the South Carolina Gamecocks.
While many Florida fans will feel that this team was good enough to likely contend for the National Title, the season was by no means disappointing. Florida started the season outside of the Top 25 and played phenomenally all season long en route to the Elite Eight.
In 2017-18, the Gators will head into the season without several key players from the year before but will still bring in a fantastic recruiting class and contend for an SEC title.
We will thankfully get a preview of the Gators against some of the better-known teams in college basketball, as they will participate in the PK80 Tournament.
On November 23, Florida will face off with the Stanford Cardinal in the “Motion Bracket” during Session 4 at the Veterans Memorial Arena. Based on whether they win or lose, they will face off with either the Gonzaga Bulldogs or the Ohio State Buckeyes in their second game at the Moda Center.

The Motion Bracket consists of the Butler Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, Duke Blue Devils, and Portland State Vikings, so we could be in for some exciting match-ups for the Gators later on in the tournament.
