Indiana basketball has a new coach and he must win the in-state recruiting battle. Here is a look at five prospects Indiana should focus most on.

Archie Miller was recently named the 29th coach of Indiana basketball. This was a great hire, and the fan base should be extremely excited about it. If Miller hasn’t won over the Indiana faithful yet, there is one huge way to get them on board: recruit the state of Indiana.

If he does this and lands the in-state recruits that have consistently escaped the state year after year, he will easily win over Indiana fans.

There are five players in the top-30 of recruiting nationally in the class of 2017 who play high school basketball in the state of Indiana. Zero of them have committed to play in the state of Indiana.

The last six Mr. Basketball winners in the state of Indiana all chose to play at places other than Indiana University. That kind of stuff didn’t happen when Indiana was a top program nationally. People want to get back to those days when Indiana was a clear national name brand, and many of them believe that starts with winning the in-state recruiting battle.

Indiana is consistently a hotbed of lush basketball talent. If Archie Miller wants to win over the fan base he needs to win this battle. The absolutely loaded class of 2017 has come and gone, and Indiana won’t get any of those top prospects that were cultivated right here in this state.

That’s why there is no better place to start than the class of 2018. The class is once again full of some great talent, and every Hoosier wants to see them land at least one of these top players.

Let’s take a look at the five players Indiana needs to focus their recruiting efforts on that are playing their high school basketball just down the road from Bloomington.
