Draft Outlook: The New York Knicks are in a very interesting position. Their two best players, Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis, are currently on the trading block, and they do not have much talent aside from Porzingis to build a future around. Are they trying to blow it up again? With that being said, they do have a top-10 pick in this draft, but counting on a superstar at #8 is a very, very risky gamble. They also have two second round picks that can hopefully find rotation spots in their first few seasons, but this draft will be all about if Porzingis gets traded, what they get in return, and who they select with their picks. For the time being, the question is this: “What’s going on?”
#8 overall: PG Frank Ntilikina, Strasbourg
One of the most intriguing players in this draft, Ntilikina has awesome potential as both a point guard and a possible wing player. He has excellent size and length and sees the floor extremely well. The Knicks are definitely shooting for the future with this pick, and that should not come as a surprise. As long as he pans out, Ntilikina will be looked back on as a solid pick at this spot. The boom or bust possibility with Ntilikina is very high, however. Grade: B.
#44 overall: SG Damyean Dotson, Houston
A spot-up shooter who can play respectable defense, Dotson is known for knocking down the three. As long as he does that at the next level, he is a solid addition. He will need to polish his attacking skills and defensive game, but for now, making sure his three-pointer is money is huge for his chances. Grade: B-.
#58 overall: PG Ognjen Jaramaz, Serbia
