Orlando Magic

Record in 2016-17: 29-53 (13th in the Eastern Conference)

Draft picks: 6th overall, 33rd overall

Jonathan Givony Projections: Jonathan Isaac (#6), Anzejs Pasecniks (#25), Isaiah Hartenstein (#33), Dillon Brooks (#35)

Lukas Harkins Projections: Dennis Smith Jr. (#6), Isaiah Hartenstein (#25), Mathias Lessort (#33), Caleb Swanigan (#35)

Draft Outlook: The Orlando Magic are a confusing bunch, especially in the frontcourt. The team does not have a true “Face of the Franchise” right now and they will be looking for one of those at the #6 pick. After not winning 30 games this past season, something has to change for them. Elfrid Payton is a fine point guard and developing well, but if they want to make a splash with an electric selection in the draft, Dennis Smith Jr. could be that guy. Otherwise, they could select another combo forward in Jonathan Isaac to pair with Aaron Gordon. They also hold another first round pick and two second rounders, so it would not be a major surprise if they end up making a tiny trade for future assets.

#6 overall: SF/PF Jonathan Isaac, Florida State

An elite two-way prospect out of college, Isaac has top-of-the-line potential to be a superb NBA player.  He has the physical gifts that very few possess, and he has shown the ability to both protect the rim and shoot the three on the offensive end. He could be the light that leads the Magic out of the darkness along with point guard Elfrid Payton. Grade: A-.

#33 overall: SF Wesley Iwundu, Kansas State

Already a polished defender with good size, Iwundu will need to become a better offensive player to find a significant NBA role. His defense will keep him afloat for a while, but his three-pointer needs to be consistent in the NBA. Grade: B.
