2017 NBA Draft: Live analysis and tracking rumors, picks, trades for the NBA Draft
Toronto Raptors
Record in 2016-17: 51-31 (T-2nd in the Eastern Conference)
Draft picks: 23rd overall
Jonathan Givony Projections: Tyler Lydon (#23)
Lukas Harkins Projections: Jarrett Allen (#23)
Draft Outlook: “What’s going to happen with Kyle Lowry?,” is a very important question facing the Raptors this season. Their outstanding point guard is a free agent and although he has reportedly indicated he would like to return to Toronto, that is not a guarantee. The Raptors have one pick in the first round, and it seems likely they will use it on a frontcourt player. Both Jarrett Allen and Tyler Lydon (the projections above) are good offensive players, with Lydon being the one who can add a deep threat to a lineup featuring DeMar DeRozan, who is a poor three-point shooting two-guard.
#23 overall: SF OG Anunoby, Indiana
An athletic specimen of the top class, the Toronto Raptors add a wing that can help out what is an unpredictable team for next season. Kyle Lowry is approaching free agency and the team needs a high-upside wing (as that is the way the league is trending) who can hopefully become an above-average starter in a few years. Anunoby is that guy. Grade: B-.
