One of the top high school players in the state of Indiana, class of 2018 recruit Eric Hunter Jr. has trimmed his list of potential college destinations to six.

Across several recruiting outlets, 6’3″ shooting guard Eric Hunter Jr. is regarded as a four-star recruit. He has been looked at by several schools, including seven from his home state of Indiana. According to 247 Sports, he is listed as the fifth prospect in the state and 137th in the country.

MaxPreps shows his junior year stats to be an explosion of scoring. In 29 games, Hunter averaged 25.3 points per game on 58% from the field and a red-hot 53% from behind the three-point line. In addition to dropping in buckets, Hunter did his fair share of rebounding (7.2 per game) and distributing (3.5 assists per game).

He will enter his senior season as one of the most highly sought after recruits in the country, with six teams currently on his top list. No matter where he ends up going, he will make a program very happy with his ability to score the basketball.

On June 25th, Eric Hunter released his top six schools, which include some interesting teams. Each will be looking to add the smooth shooting lefty guard to their roster over the next season.

Jumping out from this list are several things. For starters, he has narrowed his list to just two conferences. Minnesota, Purdue, Nebraska, and Ohio State make up the Big Ten in his list, with Purdue being the closest to where he currently plays high school basketball. As for the other conference, Butler and Xavier represent the Big East.

As will certainly be noticed, Butler and Ohio State are once again in competition for a recruit. With former Butler head coach Chris Holtmann having just joined the Ohio State staff as the new head coach, the two teams are bound to cross paths on the recruiting front for at least the next couple of seasons.

There is still plenty of time for Hunter to make his decision, and hopefully he is able to succeed wherever he goes. Nearly a top-100 recruit, Hunter will certainly make an impact wherever he goes. With his senior season upcoming, plenty of eyes will be on him as they hope to add him to their collegiate rosters soon.
