Bobby Hurley has landed his first 2020 prospect in five-star shooting guard Kyree Walker.

2020 five-star shooting guard Kyree Walker has committed to Arizona State, he announced on Friday. Arizona, Grand Canyon, St. John’s, and USC also offered the rising sophomore. He is the first 2020 prospect to pledge to a DI school.

The commitment is undoubtedly colossal for the Arizona State program, as Walker is rated as the No. 4 class of 2020 prospect on ESPN. MaxPreps honored Walker as the National Freshman of the Year earlier in the year. The 6’6″ wing posted 21.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game for Moreau Catholic this season, according to MaxPreps.

Despite his young age, Walker has received plenty of media attention, largely due to the jaw-dropping plays he was making in middle school. A matchup of Walker against freshman sensation Julian Newman in which Walker dropped 40 points totaled 4.2 million views on YouTube.

An absolute beast at attacking the rim, Walker is widely known for his excellent slashing abilities. At 6’6″ and 210 pounds, the Phoenix native already looks much older than he is physically. He does, however, need to refine his outside jump shot, ESPN’s scouting report notes.

Despite marching on a championship run with Moreau Catholic in the CIF State Championships, Walker elected to transfer to Hillcrest Hoops for his sophomore campaign. The Hawks recently produced top 2017 prospect in DeAndre Ayton and even possessed 2018’s No. 1 prospect in Marvin Bagley III, who transferred after his sophomore season. Walker will join 2018 five-star shooting guard Demarius Jacobs and 2019 five-star shooting guard Josh Green at Hillcrest for the 2017-18 season.
