College Basketball: Top 10 programs at producing NBA lottery picks
7. Syracuse Orange (8)
Overall No. 1 selection: Derrick Coleman
Other lottery picks: Carmelo Anthony, Michael Carter-Williams, Dion Waiters, Wesley Johnson, Jonny Flynn, Etan Thomas, and Billy Owens.
If it wasn’t for Anthony, the Orange would be last on the list. Anthony, one of the best scorers in the history of the league, is a 10-time All-Star. He also has been named to the All-NBA team six times. Anthony is also a lock for the Hall of Fame.
Coleman is the only player of the Orange’s eight on the list to have any sustained success in the NBA. The 1990 top overall pick produced over 12,000 points and more than 7,000 rebounds in 15 years. He also made one All-Star game appearance and was twice named All-NBA.
Thomas and Owens had solid NBA careers. Carter-Williams, Johnso, and Waiters have yet to really establish themselves in the NBA. Flynn was a bust.
