Illya Tyrtyshnyk

Hailing from literally my favorite named academy of all time, Illya Trytyshnyk was born in Ukraine and played for the Get Better Academy in Prague before committing to the Ole Miss Rebels.

Tyrtyshnyk is a 6’3 point guard who has been described as more of a combo guard than anything else, but, apart from highlight videos made to build him up, we don’t really know much about him. He was not rated by any of the major recruiting sites and a Google search of his name does not come up with much information at all.

While we likely will not see much of him in his first year with the Rebels, Tyrtyshnyk is highly underrated when you look at his stats abroad. I’m not sure he ever breaks the starting five for the first two or three years of his career, but he could play key minutes for the Rebels during his time there.

His versatility is something that SEC teams desperately need throughout the course of a season and could be the difference between a season ending in the SEC Tournament or going to the postseason. Kennedy was smart to bring in Tyrtyshnyk, and it is a move that will likely pay off in the long run.
