Bad news for the Ole Miss Rebels, as four-star recruit JaMarko Pickett will not play next season.

Heading into the 2017-18 season, the Ole Miss Rebels might be one of the sneakier teams in all of college basketball.

While they will be without Sebastian Saiz, several returning players should make this one of the highest scoring teams in the SEC.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were able to upset Kentucky at least once next season and make it to the Big Dance.

However, Ole Miss will have to do all this without four-star recruit JaMarko Pickett who, despite signing an NLI, will not play for the Rebels next season.

Pickett, a 6’7, 160-pound small forward out of the Massanutten Military Academy was a top 100 recruit in the Class of 2017 by ESPN and the No. 77 recruit by 247 Sports.

Rumors swirled around this player as it was reported that he never showed up on campus. Now, we officially have confirmation that Pickett will not play for Ole Miss during the 2017-18 season. It Is not known what he will do instead, whether that includes sitting out a season, going to junior college, or even playing overseas.

Luckily for the Rebels, they should be fine without him. Sure, Pickett would be a great addition to this roster, but Andy Kennedy continues to recruit at a high level. He already is bringing in 6’3, 180-pound shooting guard Devontae Shuler out of Oak Hill Academy, who could be a name in the SEC for years to come.
