The South Florida Bulls will head into the 2017-18 without Mike Bibby Jr., who has transferred to Appalachian State.

Last season, the South Florida Bulls went a dismal 7-23 overall with just a 1-17 record in American Athletic Conference play, and the result of the awful season led to some big changes.

One of these changes is the departure of Mike Bibby Jr, who will transfer to Appalachian State.

A 6’3, 170-pound guard out of Shadow Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona, Bibby averaged 6.6 points per game, 1.7 rebounds per game, and 2.0 assists per game his freshman season. He was rated as a three-star recruit.

This move comes after USF named Brian Gregory as the new head coach. Gregory is an underrated signing who should be able to turn this program around in time, but it will be without the services of Bibby.

The guard will likely feature for Appalachian State somewhere down the road, and it would make sense that he wants to move to a program where he is guaranteed more playing time. With a new coach who will likely implement a new system, playing time isn’t guaranteed. Transfers after a new coach hiring is rarely a surprise, and this will likely end up being a good move for both parties.

Keep an eye on South Florida moving forward, because the addition of Gregory could lead to USF being more than just the bottom feeder in the AAC sooner rather than later. Likewise, keep an eye on Bibby, because he could star at Appalachian State.
