The Fresno State Bulldogs received some good news, as former Texas A&M Aggies freshman Eric Vila will transfer to the school.

In his freshman season with the Texas A&M Aggies, Eric Vila averaged 2.3 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in 11.9 minutes per game despite only playing 15 games. Leaving the Aggies to play college basketball elsewhere, Vila has decided to transfer to the Fresno State Bulldogs in the Mountain West Conference.

A 6’11, 206-pound power forward out of Spain, Vila was rated as a three-star prospect coming into college by 247 Sports. He can do a little bit of everything, but his size will have the Fresno State coaches excited to find out what he could have in store for this Bulldogs’ team.

Vila might not make an impact for Fresno State anytime soon, but he could be a key player in the future – a future for Fresno State that is extremely bright.

Last season, the Bulldogs played well in the Mountain West Conference, finishing with an 11-7 conference record and the No. 4 spot in the MWC. Fresno State, due to their impressive 20-win season, would earn themselves a deserved NIT bid, but fall short to the TCU Horned Frogs.

With an eye on the future, Vila’s addition could be looked back on as a major win for this program in a few seasons. A power forward of his size is going to be able to dominate the glass, which could come in handy in one of the more underrated and competitive mid-major conferences in the country.
