The Missouri Tigers received great news on Wednesday night, as Jontay Porter officially announced that he will reclassify to the Class of 2017, joining the Tigers for the 2017-18 season.

Five-star recruit from the Class of 2018 Jontay Porter has decided to reclassify to the Class of 2017 to join the Missouri Tigers for the 2017-18 season per Jeff Goodman and ESPN.

Porter is a 6’10, 225-pound power forward out of Seattle and has been considering reclassifying to the Class of 2017 for some time now.

This is a great move for him because it means that he will be able to enter the 2018 NBA Draft and become a likely lottery pick.

Among the fantastic Missouri recruiting class, Porter will join brother Michael Porter Jr. on the Tigers, making this team one of the most dangerous in the country. Missouri is not a top 10 team as of yet, but I do believe that Cuonzo Martin has what it takes to whip this team into shape and get them playing winning basketball.

Sure, there is always the possibility that this team will not live up to expectations – just take a look at the LSU Tigers from two seasons ago. The team brought in the best player, Ben Simmons, in the country and still struggled.

However, this is an overall better team than the Tigers, Porter (and his brother) have proven they play well with others, and Martin is an underrated coach.

Expect big things from Missouri and, while I still think Kentucky is the favorite to win the SEC, the Tigers keep getting closer.
