AAC Basketball: Breaking down the stars on each team in the conference
There are star players throughout AAC basketball, and each will make a major impact on the 2017-18 season. Let’s take a look at each team and their star.
Since the AAC started in 2013-14, they have been a very solid conference in college hoops. They have sent an average of three schools to the Big Dance in their four seasons and they already have a National Championship under their belt thanks to Connecticut in the conference’s inaugural season.
Since that first season, no team has reached the Sweet 16 from the conference, although several have come close. Will this be the year that a team emerges from the AAC and makes a deep run in the NCAA Tournament? Wichita State, who joined added to the conference this offseason, and Cincinnati seem like candidates to make a deep run, but could someone surprise us?
In addition to the team success of the conference, there has been a ton of top level talent in the AAC. NBA players Shabazz Napier and Sean Kilpatrick both played in the American Athletic Conference and there is a new group of stars emerging in the conference. Each team has their go-to-guy and they will rally behind them in the biggest moments of their season.
Winning in the AAC is rarely easy, and in late-game situations, star play is what matters most. Without further introduction, let’s look at each team in the conference and who their star player(s) will be in the 2017-18 season.
