Duke Basketball: Five-star recruit Cam Reddish commits to the Blue Devils
Kickstarting their 2018 recruiting class, Duke basketball has received a major commitment. Five-star recruit Cam Reddish has decided to join the Blue Devils.
Duke basketball is making a statement early with their recruiting class of 2018. Already with #6 ranked recruit Tre Jones in tow, Coach Mike Krzyzewski added #4 recruit Cam Reddish on Sept. 1. Reddish announced his decision via Twitter and the Players Tribune. Reddish committed to Duke over Connecticut, Kentucky, Villanova, and UCLA, all of which were in his final five schools.
With this recruit, Duke has launched themselves to the #5 spot in the updated 2018 team recruiting rankings. Falling in just behind Arizona, USC, Indiana, and Michigan State, the Blue Devils have a good chance to have the top recruiting class in the country for the third consecutive season.
With their impressive academic reputation in addition to a college basketball tradition that is rivaled by very few, it is hard to argue against Duke being one of the premier destinations for a high school recruit. In Reddish’s announcement video (to hear the full commitment, click here), he says the following about his decision to join the Blue Devils:
"“The way I see it, I’m not a prospect. I’m a work in progress. There’s always more to learn. That’s why I’m going somewhere that I can be challenged as a leader, challenged as a student, challenged to grow up on and off the court.”"
Led by one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport in Coach K, Reddish will have an outstanding opportunity to grow as a player while with the university. Duke has made the NCAA Tournament in 22 consecutive seasons and it does not look like that streak will be ending anytime soon. Duke has become a pipeline for some of the best future NBA prospects in the country to come play, including players such as Kyrie Irving, Jabari Parker, and newly acquired Marvin Bagley.
With Jones and Reddish now with the program, Coach K will have all the tools to make a deep NCAA Tournament run before the stars take their next step in their careers.

A 6’8″ forward, Reddish is from Norristown, PA. Throughout the summer, Reddish showed that he is one of the top recruits in the entire class. While on the Nike EYBL circuit, Reddish supplied highlight after highlight while racking up 23 points and eight rebounds per game.
In addition, he played under Kentucky head coach John Calipari while playing for the United States U19 team this summer at the FIBA U19 World Cup. He averaged 10.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game while the team finished third in the competition.
Looking forward to the 2018-19 season, Duke will be reloading once again. It is expected that Marvin Bagley, Wendell Carter, and Trevon Duval will all be departing the school for the NBA, leaving plenty of gaps in the lineup. On top of the freshmen leaving, star guard Grayson Allen will be graduating after this season.
With Jones and Reddish starting things for the 2018 Duke recruiting class, the Blue Devils seem to be in great shape for the 2018-19 season already.

Duke basketball is one of the top programs in the entire country and with the commitment of Cam Reddish, the team has secured their 10th top-10 recruit in the last five seasons. This does not even include the possibility of another top recruit joining their ranks before this recruiting season is over. Coach K continues to bring in top talent as the program reloads year in and year out for potential National Championship runs.
