The DePaul Demon Deacons received bad news, as former Class of 2018 commit Tyler Campbell has decided to reopen his commitment.

The DePaul Blue Demons have been the laughing stock of the Big East for years but seem to be gaining a bit of momentum moving forward.

Yes, there is little chance of this team making it to the NCAA Tournament, and, yes, I doubt this team finishes in the top half of the Big East, but the Blue Demons will not be one of the worst teams in a big-name college basketball conference for the first time in a long time.

Unfortunately, things will get a little bit more difficult for the Blue Demons, as four-star Class of 2018 point guard Tyger Campbell has decided to reopen his recruitment.

The 6’0, 165-pound point guard out of Indiana has received offers from Alabama, Michigan State, Creighton, Illinois, and Iowa, among others – something that does not bode well for DePaul and their chances to retain the talented player.

I have a feeling Campbell wants to go to a school that will likely make it to the NCAA Tournament in the near future, and there are a number of NCAA Tournament-bound teams that are interested in him that have a much better chance than the Blue Demons. I would keep an eye on Michigan State, as many sites predicted that is where he would go before his commitment to DePaul.

DePaul is on the right track, but it is probably time to look elsewhere in terms of recruiting. The good news is that the Blue Demons are having success on the recruiting front and should be able to find key players that wish to play at DePaul to replace Campbell.
