Nebraska Basketball: Isaac Copeland receives waiver, will play for Cornhuskers
By Taylor Sturm
The Nebraska Cornhuskers received great news on Tuesday afternoon, as Isaac Copeland has been allowed to play for the 2017-18 season.
The Isaac Copeland transfer saga is finally over, as the small forward has officially been cleared by the NCAA to play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers during the 2017-18 college basketball season.
Copeland, who played three seasons with the Georgetown Hoyas, saw his minutes decrease drastically last season, going from 32 minutes per game in 2015-16 to just 19.6 in 2016-17.
The move is likely a way for him to see more playing time in the lead up to his last year of college basketball and gain the attention of professional scouts – something that was expected of him just a few years ago.
Prior to his decision to commit to the Hoyas as part of the Class of 2017, Copeland was a four-star recruit out of Charlottesville, Virginia. Highly recruited due to his versatility, the 6’9, 220-pound small forward performed extremely well when given time, but it was reported that “injuries and an influx of new players” are what led to his decrease in minutes.
He should immediately start for this Nebraska squad, even though there are some players who could push him for time initially.

The Cornhuskers are not one of the better teams in the Big Ten, but could legitimately make a push for a low-end NCAA Tournament berth or high-end NIT seed with a few big in-conference wins. Keep an eye on the arrival of Copeland, because, if he adjusts quickly, Nebraska could get very dangerous, very fast.
