Ivy League Basketball: 2017-18 stars on each team in the conference
Brown Bears – Obi Okolie
The Bears are going to have a rather rough season coming up. Despite the stellar play of senior Steven Spieth (brother of golfer Jordan Spieth), Brown tied for last place at 4-10 in conference play last year. As of late, the school has really struggled, finishing right at or near the bottom in the league.
Even with the finish, Brown still was entertaining with not only Spieth but Tavon Blackmon as well. He chipped in 11 points per game, and at times was dynamic driving into the paint.
The offense wasn’t an issue for the team, though, as they finished tops in scoring. Defensively was where they came up short, finishing dead last in many categories.
With the top two players gone for the Bears, it will be up to junior Obi Okolie to pick up the slack. He was the third-leading scorer on the team at nine points per game and snagged four rebounds per game as well. While his production will most likely increase, the need for additional players to step up will be needed as well considering the amount of talent that was lost.
His minutes will sure to go up and so will his need for defense because as this list continues, there will be plenty of bigs to deal with in this league.
