Iowa Basketball: 2017-18 season preview for the Hawkeyes
By Bryan Mauro
Schedule Overview:
Iowa’s nonconference slate leaves a lot to be desired. A team that has the talent and the depth that Iowa has, their non-conference schedule should be a lot harder. They only show one marquee game on their early slate and that is in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. They drew Virginia Tech.
Iowa does also have the annual game with Iowa State, though. In that game you never know what is going to happen. It matters a great deal to both coaches, fans, and players on each side.
Iowa has the following home and home games in conference play: Michigan, Indiana, Ohio State, Penn State and Minnesota. Iowa has a tough home and home schedule.

Conference Finish:
Iowa is one of the youngest and deepest teams in the league. They have the talent to finish near the top of the league. If Iowa is able to find a replacement for the scoring of Peter Jok quickly, their role players step into their roles quickly, and they avoid injuries, Iowa should be atop the second tier in this league. If they can do that, Iowa should be a higher seed in the NCAA tournament. Iowa is poised for a deep run in the tournament as well.
Depth is never a bad thing to have and Iowa has a lot of capable players who should see time this year. All of them will help contribute to wins for the Hawkeyes.
