Washington State Cougars vs UC Irvine Anteaters

Although the game may not interest fans outside of the two fan bases, it appears to be evenly matched. The Anteaters did lose 7’6 giant Mamadou N’Diaye, but still return most of what should be the favorites in the Big West conference.

Over the past decade, Irvine has been at or near the top each year and has been a fairly tough out in the tournament. While teams have gone smaller, the Anteaters have decided to go bigger, with lineups having multiple seven footers.

The Cougars, lose just about everyone of importance including their best player Josh Hawkinson, starting a complete rebuild. Ernie Kent will have his work cut out for him to even win multiple games in the Pac-12.

Sophomore Malachi Flynn will go from role player to star of the team. His progression will not only be important for the game but the season as well.

As of this season, UC Irvine should have the overall talent advantage on a neutral court. Regardless of the invitees on the mid-major side, there’s a chance Washington State will have the worst team in this challenge.

It will be a challenge for them to even win a game in the Pac-12 this year.

Prediction: UC Irvine
