Oregon Basketball: Five-star recruit Louis King commits to the Ducks
Rated as a five-star recruit in the class of 2018, Louis King is a major addition to the future of Oregon basketball under head coach Dana Altman.
For the recruiting class of 2018, Oregon basketball has now landed their second top-100 recruit. After signing Miles Norris, who is ranked #56 in the class by 247Sports, in May, head coach Dana Altman secured a commitment from Louis King on Sept. 21. With just these two recruits, Oregon’s class is ranked #16 in the country.
Just like Norris, King is a major recruit for the Ducks. Ranked as the #18 recruit in the class, King was extremely sought after by some of the top programs nationwide. Before choosing to attend Oregon, King’s final eight teams also included Kansas, Seton Hall, Purdue, NC State, Maryland, Connecticut, and Syracuse.
King is a 6’8″ small forward with enormous potential. While playing for Team Final on the Nike EBYL circuit, he averaged 17.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. In addition to being an excellent athlete at his size, King has a very quick release that makes defending his jump shot nearly impossible.
He has the ability to hurt you both on the attack or a pull-up from mid-range or 3-point land. He also has no problem seeing the floor and making the right pass, as evident by this dish:
This is not the end of the 2018 recruiting class for Oregon though. Even with two highly-touted recruits already in tow, Dana Altman is still hot on the recruiting trail. R.J. Barrett, Luguentz Dort, Bol Bol, Simisola Shittu, Jordan Brown, and Emmitt Williams (among others) are all highly-rated targets for the remainder of Oregon’s recruiting class. If one or two of these recruits sign on, then Oregon will likely find themselves as one of the top-10 recruiting classes nationwide.
