Georgia Tech Basketball: Four-star recruit Mike Devoe commits
By Taylor Sturm
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets received a commitment from top 100 Class of 2018 recruit Mike Devoe.
Last season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets surprised everyone by nearly securing a trip to the 2017 NCAA Tournament. While disappointing that they did not make it, Josh Pastner and Co. instead went to the finals of the NIT where they would lose to the TCU Horned Frogs.
Heading into 2017-18, expectations are higher for the program, but Pastner has one eye on the future, as he has received a commitment from Class of 2018 point guard Mike Devoe.
The 6’3, 167-pound PG is rated as a four-star recruit across all basketball recruiting sites. On 247 Sports, Devoe is rated as the No. 17 point guard in the Class of 2018 and the No. 92 player overall. ESPN also has him in the top 100 at No. 87, and Rivals has him even higher at No. 62.
When I wrote for another website a few years ago, I once wrote that Josh Pastner leaving Memphis would be the best thing to happen to both of them and felt the full wrath of Tigers’ fans.
However, not only would I like to point out that I was right, but I am happy to have been right. Pastner did a phenomenal job at Memphis following the departure of John Calipari, but it was time for him to move one. The program, while still not what it once was, is doing alright, and Pastner is faring extremely well with the Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Tech is all but a lock for the 2018 NCAA Tournament, and the recruitment of players like Devoe is a good sign that this is not just a one-time thing for GT and Pastner.
