The Missouri State Bears continue to be a hot transfer destination as former Indiana Hoosiers’ guard Grant Gelon announced he chose the MVC school.

Grant Gelon reportedly wanted to stay with the Indiana Hoosiers after the departure of Tom Crean but was not wanted by new coach Archie Miller, leading to his decision to transfer to a community college.

However, he has committed to the Missouri State Bears after the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

Averaging 3.2 minutes per game and less than two points per game as a freshman, Gelon was never going to be a superstar with the Hoosiers, but a talented, local kid playing for Indiana made him a fan favorite almost instantly – and future playing time as a four-year athlete was a given.

At Missouri State, however, he should be more than a fan favorite and play a sizable role immediately. The 6’5, 195-pound guard was rated as a three-star recruit coming out of high school, and 247 Sports had Gelon as the No. 80 shooting guard in the Class of 2016.

The bad news is that Gelon will not play for Missouri State until next season, which means that he will not play with Bears’ star Alize Johnson. He will add talented to a rapidly growing roster, though.

It is currently rumored that the Bears are a potential destination for a Xavier Musketeers’ transfer, so keep an eye on Missouri State moving forward. This is a good team and, conference aside, I expect them to push the better teams on their roster and contend at the top of the conference.
