The Florida Gators received a commitment from four-star Class of 2018 shooting guard Andrew Nembhard on Monday.

The Florida Gators head into the 2017-18 season with high expectations and should once again compete to win the SEC, but have kept an eye on the future of the program by receiving interest from several top Class of 2018 recruits.

One of these, a four-star, Class of 2018 shooting guard, Andrew Nembhard, decided to commit to play college basketball for the Gators on Monday via Twitter.

The 6’4, 185-pound shooting guard played his high school basketball at Montverde Academy and hails from Thornhill, Ontario. Nembhard is rated as a four-star recruit across the major recruiting sites and a top 30 player in the Class of 2018 by both Scout and 247 Sports, as well as the No. 8 and No. 7 overall point guard respectively. ESPN has Nembhard rated as the No. 46 overall player in the ESPN 100 for 2018

Nembhard should see some minutes as a freshman during the 2018-19 season but could begin seeing significant minutes as a sophomore.

Florida, one of the best teams in the SEC year-in and year-out, are expected to be near the top of the standings in 2017-18,  and the addition of Nembhard means that their imminent turnover will not be as bad as it could be.

Nembhard is the first recruit to commit to Florida from the Class of 2018.

Mike White has done a phenomenal job replacing Billy Donovan as the head of the Gators, and I expect more top recruits to choose this great Florida program from the Class of 2018.
