While some ACC teams have a cloudy future, the Fighting Irish continue to add to their success.

While the college basketball community has gone through turmoil affecting countless teams, some are still thriving. The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame have had an incredibly underrated off-season, quietly snagging some talented prospects.

This week Notre Dame snagged its fourth player for 2018 in Nate Laszewski, a power forward from Massachusetts. The four-star forward is a top 100 recruit, per 247 Sports, joining three other guys ranked in the same area.

Right now Laszewski is the only big in the class, with Prentiss Hubbs, Robby Carmody, and former Ohio State commit Dane Goodwin playing at the guard positions. At 6’10, he’s a big who can stretch the floor and hit perimeter shots. Notre Dame won an ACC battle with North Carolina and Wake Forest with this kid.

With the pickup of Laszewski, Notre Dame now has the second-ranked recruiting class for 2018, behind Arizona who’s currently involved with in an FBI investigation. With two more scholarship players likely to be filled in the spring, the Irish will all but likely have a top ten recruiting class.

This comes as good news for the program, considering the amount of talent the program will be losing. Senior all-conference players Matt Ferrell and Bonzie Colson are amongst several seniors on the roster, making the next batch of Irishmen key to continuing coach Mike Brey’s run up on the top of the ACC.

With much of the work done for Brey and the coaching staff done, the team can focus on making a run this year. It’s already been a great year so far for the program, let’s see if the momentum can continue on the court.
