The Fordham Rams are looking towards the future of their basketball program, as they add another Class of 2018 recruit in shooting guard Chris Austin.

Despite their disappointing 2016-17 campaign, the Fordham Rams finished No. 10 in the Atlantic-10, five places from the bottom of the conference.

The team, which ended the season with a 13-19 overall record, had just come off of a winning season and a trip to the CIT and will hope that they can get back to their winning ways soon.

Part of taking that step will be the ability to recruit well, and the Rams were able to pick up a Class of 2018 shooting guard in Chris Austin from Pasadena, California.

The 6’4, 180-pound shooting guard is unranked across the board by Scout, but Verbal Commits does have him as a two-star prospect.

In conferences like the A-10, coaching and development is far more important than recruiting rankings, as players like Austin can quickly go from ignored by the recruiting sites to one of the better players in the conference after a few years at a program. It’s highly doubtful he’ll leave to go pro early, meaning that the Rams should have four years of Austin.

You can watch a brief clip of his high school highlights here.

Fordham has already added another Class of 2018 recruit in addition to Austin, as they received a commitment from three-star point guard Nick Honor.
