Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers received their second recruit from the Class of 2018, as three-star point guard Kihei Clark committed to the program.

The Virginia Cavaliers received a commitment from the Class of 2018, as three-star point guard Kihei Clark chose to play his college basketball with Tony Bennett and Co. in Charlottesville.

A 5’9, 145-pound point guard out of Woodland Hills, California, Kihei is rated as a three-star recruit by 247 Sports and the No. 64 overall point guard. ESPN has Clark rated as a three-star recruit as well, as does Scout, making him a three-star recruit across the board.

I’m pretty excited for what Clark has to offer with Tony Bennett’s system. His size and speed will cause opposing point guards nightmares, as it will be next to impossible to stop him in transition. The defensive-minded Cavs will be able to break instantly off of turnovers, and it could lead to some big wins against higher-ranked ACC opposition.

In addition, Bennett would not have recruited him so heavily if Clark was not willing to go all in on defense. Bennett is the best defensive mind in the game, and I feel like this is a match made in heaven for the smaller point guard and the defensive-minded Virginia coach.

Clark joins two-star Australian small forward Kody Stattmann as the only recruits to have already committed to the Cavaliers from the Class of 2018. More should join them relatively soon, but this is a good start well before the 2016-17 college basketball season even begins.
