North Carolina basketball is a powerhouse on the national landscape. The future continues to look bright for the Tar Heels with the commitment of Nassir Little.

Coming off of a National Championship victory this past season, North Carolina is riding high. They are known as one of the best college basketball programs in the country and their future is in great shape. On Oct. 4, head coach Roy Williams received his third commitment for North Carolina’s 2018 recruiting class in Nassir Little.

A 6’7″, 205-pound small forward, Little is rated as a five-star recruit and ranked No. 9 in the country by 247Sports. During this last season, he won the Class 3A state title in Florida while leading Orlando Christian Prep with 18 points, eight rebounds, and three assists per game.

In addition, Little dropped home 17.6 points and added 7.5 rebounds per game while playing on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit over the past few months. He is a dangerous and versatile scorer on the wing with tons of potential for success.

After visiting with North Carolina on Sept. 9, the predictions for his commitment began to trend towards the Tar Heels. For North Carolina, this is third signing for the class of 2018. Also in the class is No. 23 Coby White and No. 62 Rechon Black. With three top-100 signings in the class, the Tar Heels’ class is ranked No. 1 in the country.

The other teams in Little’s final five were Georgia Tech, Duke, Arizona, and Miami. There was some discussion in the final week or so of his recruitment that schools like Arizona and Miami were eliminated due to their potential inclusion in the ongoing FBI investigation.

According to ESPN, Little had this to say about his decision to join the Tar Heels:

"“I just love coach [Roy] Williams,” Little told ESPN. “He really cares about the players off the court, which is important. They’re a basketball school, which is something I wanted to be a part of. Coach Roy really knows how to win. I love winning. I really do. And that’s important to me.”"

As for his fit with North Carolina, Little seems like an ideal candidate to fill in the hole that will be left by Theo Pinson, who will graduate after this season. The Tar Heels have a rich basketball tradition and are one of the premier destinations for any high school recruit. Little will have an outstanding opportunity to grow in his career with the program and they will help guide him towards his next step in his career, which is likely the NBA.

With this recruit, North Carolina has solidified another incredibly solid recruiting class. The Tar Heels are one of the elite programs nationwide and with the future on the wing locked up, they will once again be a dangerous team threatening for a national title during the 2018-19 season. Little is a big-time commitment that can go a long way towards success.
