Oregon State Basketball: Warren Washington commits to the Beavers
Oregon State basketball struggled last season, but the team looks solid for this season. With Warren Washington’s commitment, the future looks good too.
Even before Tres Tinkle went down last season, the team was struggling to win games. A big part of this was due to a big-time lack of depth throughout the roster. After finishing the season with just one conference win and five total wins for the season, recruitment was very important for the Beavers.
For 2017, Oregon State will get three-star recruits Ethan Thompson and Alfred Hollis to help out with the roster, but there was still issues about the frontcourt for the future. That’s where the 2018 class comes in, as Coach Wayne Tinkle has snagged two frontcourt players for the coming years.
The first commit was Jack Wilson, a four-star center who plays similarly to current Beaver Drew Eubanks. This past weekend, Oregon State received another commitment in power forward Warren Washington.

247sports has him rated as the 270th best player for 2018 and is considered a three-star player. Originally from California, he included fellow Pac-12 schools Utah and Cal in his final three. At 6’10” and 210 pounds, he is an athletic forward who can stretch the floor as well as work inside the paint. He already has a good offensive game, but the defense could use some work before getting meaningful college minutes.

The good news for coach Tinkle is that he will not have to rush these guys when they come in a year. Tres Tinkle will be a junior next year and Eubanks will be a senior. These new guys can develop at their own pace, while still providing enough depth so that another five-win campaign doesn’t happen again.
