The Georgetown Hoyas received a commitment on Sunday from three-star, Class of 2018 point guard Mac McClung. This is the third commit already picked up by coach Patrick Ewing for the 2018-19 season.

After several disappointing seasons, the arrival of Patrick Ewing has instantly transformed the momentum of the Georgetown Hoyas’ basketball program.

Not only is their excitement about the future of the team under Ewing, but he is showing results by picking up top recruits from the Class of 2018 before his first season has even begun.

Ewing received his third commitment for the 2018-19 season, as three-star recruit Mac McClung committed on Oct. 15.

A 6’2, 175-pound point guard from Gate City, Virginia, McClung was rated as the No. 250 player on the 247 Sports Composite and the No. 44 point guard in the Class of 2018. While he is not ranked by Rivals, he is rated as a three-star recruit. He is unranked on Scout.

McClung might not be as highly touted as other players who have committed to Georgetown so far, but he should be a four-year, key contributor for the Hoyas. Players like McClung are the backbone of successful programs, and the fact that he was highly sought after by a ridiculous number of schools is a good sign when it comes to Ewing and Georgetown’s ability to recruit over other programs.

Expect Ewing and Co. to add more top recruits before the start of the 2018-19 season – players like McClung are only the beginning of a Georgetown rebuild that will happen a lot faster than many believe.
