Schedule Overview:

Last month, when Georgetown’s schedule was released, I wrote about how easy their schedule was.  Coach Ewing was smart by scheduling teams his team could hopefully beat, which should help them gain confidence.  In that instance, it was a good plan.  Georgetown will not be prepared to play the gauntlet of the Big East schedule, which is where they will start to turn into the team it appears they are going to be.

In the non-conference, Georgetown leaves DC one time and that is to play Richmond.  The toughest game on this schedule for the non-conference portion is the game with Syracuse.  Syracuse is most likely going to have a down year, and even if the Orange are as good as they can be, Georgetown is probably not good enough to beat them.

The Hoyas should have a really nice win and loss record once the Big East season starts. Once the Big East season starts any team Georgetown plays not named DePaul should be favored. It could be another long year in DC once the Big East season hits.

Projected Finish:

The Hoyas were picked to finish next to last in the preseason Big East conference rankings.  Evaluating the roster and the talent that Georgetown currently has, that seems to be spot on. The Hoyas are going to be one of the least talented rosters in the Big East conference. The Hoyas are usually an annual NCAA tournament team, but this year double-digit wins, along with five wins in the Big East conference should be a successful year.

Next: Breaking down Georgetown's schedule

Patrick Ewing will get this team moving in the right direction. He inherited a team with very little talent and lost one of the best incoming freshmen in the country in Tremont Waters. Once Ewing is able to conduct a full offseason and start to implement his coaching styles and system on this team. The Hoyas should return to being an annual powerhouse in college basketball.
