UNLV Basketball: Four-star commit Bryce Hamilton speeds up rebuild
UNLV basketball secured a major commitment in shooting guard Bryce Hamilton. A four-star recruit, he will make a big splash in the program.
Bryce Hamilton made a lot of fans happy with his announcement via Twitter confirming his pledge to UNLV basketball. The shooting guard is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 111 recruit for 2018. Some recruiting sites have him ranked in the top-100 and he will be a go-to scorer for the program as soon as he joins the team.
Hamilton chose the Rebels over several other top programs. In addition to visiting UNLV, he also took visits to Ohio State and Arizona State.
Hamilton is known as an outstanding scorer who can get buckets in many ways. In his junior year at Pasadena High School, he averaged 24.6 ppg and 8.2 rpg. The Rebels had been scouting him for the majority of his recruitment and the persistence paid off. He joins another 2018 four-star guard in Trey Woodbury. Although both have similar games, they should be able to play the two and three spots on the court together.
Currently, there are only two seniors on the roster, including starting point guard Jovan Mooring. McDonald’s All-American Brandon McCoy is a serious one-and-done threat so there should be another scholarship available. That means either a frontcourt player or a point guard to replace Mooring will be the next player to come in and join these two recruits.

After winning just four games in the Mountain West and 11 games overall, head coach Marvin Menzies brought in a top 20 recruiting class for 2017. They have a shot at being ranked highly again depending on who else comes in. It’s being a roller coaster ride for Rebel fans the past few years, but things are starting to head in the right direction.
