Key Reserves

Desmond Bane

It’s a toss-up in regards to who starts at the wing between Bane and Miller, but the sophomore fits better as the sixth man off the bench. He averaged 7.1 ppg and started 13 games last season. He’s versatile and can play multiple positions in any rotation.

Ahmed Hamdy

The grad transfer from Virginia Commonwealth provides needed size and experience for the Frogs at 6’10” and 240 pounds. His season-high last year with the Rams came against Baylor with 14 points. Hamdy will be a good defensive anchor off the bench to replace Brodziansky when needed.

Kevin Samuel

The four-star freshman from Texas is considered a top-10 center in the class of 2017. Although he was in homeschool the past few years, he impressed many during his time in AAU. The three frontcourt players ahead of him are seniors, so his chance at big minutes will come next year.

RJ Nembhard

The four-star shooting guard averaged 26.4 ppg and 6.5 rpg during his senior year at Keller High school in Texas. The other Big 12 schools such as Texas and Baylor were after him as well. This freshman will likely be the first guard off the bench for the Frogs.

Shawn Olden

The former All-WCC freshman guard at Pepperdine spent last year at New Mexico Junior College and scored 16.6 ppg. We’ll see if he improved enough for minutes for a solid Big 12 team.

Lat Mayen and Kouat Noi

Both of these freshmen forwards are from Australia. Noi came over a year early and took a redshirt year last season to get ready for American basketball. Both are raw players and likely will be buried on the bench this year, but next season will be their opportunity.
