By Taylor Sturm
The Duke Blue Devils head into the 2017-18 as the No. 1 team in college basketball. But what can we expect from Coach K and Co.?
The Duke Blue Devils are one of the blue-blood programs in college basketball, and expectations for them coming into the 2017-18 season are extremely high, as they have been voted the No. 1 team in both the Coaches Poll and AP Poll.
Last season, the Blue Devils went into the year as the No. 1 team in college basketball. Their mixture of returning talent and young stars led many to believe that they were the best team, and it showed in the preseason hype.
Unfortunately, the expectations were just a bit too lofty, as they finished as they won the ACC Tournament championship and earned an impressive No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. After a first-round win over the Troy Trojans, Duke would fall to the South Carolina Gamecocks in the second round to bring their overall season record to 28-9.
This season, the Blue Devils will also head into the year as the No. 1 team in college basketball due to their mixture of veterans and young, elite talent.
Expectations were high last season, but it feels like they are even higher now, as the Blue Devils boast the No. 1 freshman in the Class of 2017 and arguably the best returning senior in all of college basketball.
But how will things shake up for the Blue Devils in 2017-18? Here are 10 predictions for Duke’s 2017-18 college basketball season.
