Florida State basketball had a historic year in which several school records were broken. With their top talent gone, how far will the Seminoles drop?

When star guard Dwayne Bacon elected to return last season, hopes and expectations started to rise with Florida State’s basketball program. He, along with highly ranked recruit Jonathan Isaac, would be the catalyst for the 26-win season thSeminoleses had. It was the most regular season wins in school history, and the team went undefeated at home for the first time in over 40 years.

But despite the regular season success the team had, something wasn’t right about them.

There were no-shows during the regular season, including getting blown out by Georgia Tech. They were great individual players, but as a team it never seemed to click in the way many expected. The ultimate letdown came against Xavier, losing in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

It was a disappointing end to a quality season, as head coach Leonard Hamilton finally made his mark in the ACC. But now for this season, he has to continue the Seminoles rise in the conference, while replacing their top three scorers, including Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

The good news for fans is the 2017 recruiting class, which is ranked in the top 15 according to 247sports. These players will have to contribute immediately to collectively make up for the production missing from the previous season.
